A new trend in Kapampangan music unfolds
The old Capampangan songs have long gone by. Our rich cultural heritage has been a thing of the past. Until one day, Andy Alviz, a director, writer, choreographer, composer, record producer; founder of the spectacular theater groups Arti Sta.Rita and Teatru ImaArti came to realize, it wasn’t too late. He (Andy) ignited the awakening of Pampanga’s versed prose and putting into it melodious sweet succession of sounds.
Very recently, Andy’s life long dream of commencing a music industry for the Capampangan, has come in realization. A surprise album launch sponsored by Pampanga’s Best was held at the clubhouse of Beverly Place in the City of San Fernando. Headed by Landlee Quiwa (Q & A Productions Enterprises), Angie Hizon (Q & A Marketing Director), Dalsa Montalban Hizon (TV host/columnist), and a bunch of people from the business world and members of ImaArti, the said event was a huge success.
It was the launch of a twin CD album featuring various professional and non-professional artists. The birth of a new trend in the music genre. Traditional Capampangan songs and original compositions of Andy himself, Landlee and various artists in collaboration. Lizzette Laus, who sings Andy Alviz’s composition “Abe Pakakalale”, is the daughter of Levi and Tess Laus of the Laus Group of Companies. Jumbo Tayag, sings a Capampangan folk song “Dalumdum Ning Bengi”, comes from the famous and respected Tayag clan of Angeles City.
Porsche Hizon, daughter of Darius Hizon and granddaughter of Lolita Hizon of the world famous Pampanga’s Best. Pot Romero, is singing “O Kaka O Kaka”, a traditional Capampangan song, and daughter of Agnes and Rene Romero of ROMAC. Jo Velez, an operatic tenor, lends his voice to the Capampngan classic “Atsing Rosing”.
Mang Jo is the husband of Lina Velez and the father of Atty. Velez. Jonas David sings “Malagung Kakung Palsintan”, an old Capampangan harna song. Jonas is a local balladeer/R&B singer, who s soon to launch his solo album, is a favorite guest in local beauty pageants and social gatherings. Son of Danilo and Conching David (famous for her Aling Conching Sweet Delicacies and Kuliat Empanada, Brownies and Pastries).
Ging Pineda is a lead actress/singer of the Arti Sta.Rita, who sings “Iniang Malati Ku”. Daughter of Arti Sta.Rita’s senior musical director Recy Pineda. Dalsa Montalban Hizon, Andy’s best friend and wife of Derrick Hizon, renders “Paralaya”.
Pam Jorolan sings “Mekeni King Siping Ku”. Pam is a daughter of Pette Jorolan, who runs the famed Everybody’s Cafe. Janet Garbes, personally chose “Atin Ku Pung Singsing”,with an arrangement that fits her sunny personality. Anne Yssabelle Pangilinan Ordanez, the youngest and daughter of Gilda and Rommel Ordanez. She is the favorite apo of socialite Luz Ocampo. Jess Nicado, just finished his term as Rotary Club President, after having been convinced, has agreed to sing “Aro Katimyas Na Ning Dalaga”.
Somehow, Andy’s dream of having his own album came to reality. The twin cd album is composed of Andy Alivz Pampanga’s Best Bossa and an All Stars Bossa Pampanga.
Pampanga’s Best representation of music and icon. Giving birth to a Latin inspired beat to Capampangan poetry. Andy is all out to prove his worth not only in Pampanga, but to the rest of the world that his passion is music. And music will linger in his limbs in perpetuity.
