Elected officers were: Joy Edward Manalang as President; Delfin Gan, Vice-President; Bob Dela Peña, Secretary; Resty Antonio, Treasurer; Bong Masagca, Auditor; Ferdie Calma, Information and Education Officer; and Louie Reyes, Business Manager.

Guests during the anniversary celebration, dubbed “One EKIT One Fraternity: Nationalism and Fraternity in the context of participatory governance and community service,” were founders Luzvimindo T. David and Joaquin M. Gan as well as National Alumni Foundation Chairman Freddie Sarangaya. Also present were resident and alumni brods and sisses.

The Pampanga Chapter was organized on November 15, 1980 in Angeles City when 13 youths were initiated into the organization, a move which was the realization of a dream by fraternity batch-mates Delfin Gan and Rino “Rockardz” Jose, to “bring home” the fraternity to its roots after 12 years in the University of the Philippines in Diliman.

The first batch, with Batch Name 80-A Unang Liyab, sparked the flame for the establishment of the fraternity in Pampanga and, at the same time, founded the Chevalier School Chapter and later, chapters in the major schools and universities in the city and its neighboring towns.

The batch was composed of Dino Doliente, Louie Siplon, Mandy Mabanta, Dotdo Cabalu, Bob dela Peña, Dante Pelayo, RV Pascual, Toti Hipolito, Lyndon Viray, Danny Viray, Emong Feliciano, Lito David and Runsted Lao.

Sigma Kappa Pi, a fraternity founded on nationalism, service and brotherhood, was established on September 1, 1968 by friends and pioneer brods Luzvimindo T. David, Joaquin M. Gan, Doroteo C. Abaya Jr. and Alfredo D. Lansangan in the University of the Philippines in Diliman. It has since grown with chapters in almost every part of the country as well as in other countries.
In his message during the 29th Foundation Day of the Sigma Kappa Pi Fraternity in Pampanga, David noted that “many brods have made their marks in various fields of endeavor – in education, law, medicine, the arts, journalism and mass media, government, business, advocacy work, the military and police, and even in the insurgent movement.”

He mentioned the likes of Philippine Star columnist Jarius Bondoc, Caloocan City Mayor Recom Echeverri, past Philippine Jaycees President and now Technology Resource Center Deputy Director General Dennis Cunanan, PNP-CIDG Sr. Supt. Noel delos Reyes and retired Philippine Army Lt. Gen. Bernard de Luna as among the outstanding alumni of the fraternity.

“We call on Sigma Kappa Pi Fraternity alumni members to do likewise in pursuit of the fraternity’s principles of `nationalism, service and brotherhood,’” David said.
