She never thought that her sweet life will ever become sweeter. When she left government service in 2007, she took a risk in business that would eventually give her warmth and joy as well as financial benefits.

In a recent interview with the Flor I. Arrozal, the owner of Coffee Academy, NET@Fia and Essensa Spa, Punto found out that this young woman with three brilliant sons is very much enjoying her life as an entrepreneur. After three years away from public’s eye (she used to be an executive at the MPC-HUDCC-PPMO), Arrozal said she has no regrets in finding a new life with Coffee.

Among all her businesses, she gets elated about her Coffee. While I was   taking a sip of Coffee Academy’s delightful Café Mocha, she animatedly recalled how she found a new meaning in putting up the coffee bar and resto in 2007.

“When I decided to put up Coffee Academy, I did some research and study about the coffee industry. And I was very surprised to know that the Philippine Kape Barako is near extinction and our coffee industry, which 200 years ago was among the top five in the world, is fast dying. We are providing only .0012 percent of the world’s requirement for coffee,” she said.

The reasons for this, she added are tough competition against imported beans and lack of support systems like infrastructure for coffee growers.

So she made it a point to support the local coffee growers and made Kape Barako as the main bean for Coffee Academy’s house blend.

“Our house blend is a concoction of quality beans, all four varieties, locally grown in the Sagada mountains and highlands of Cavite and Batangas. Roasted into perfection and patented for the Coffee Academy. Culinary Exchange is preparing the blend for us. Our syrups and sauces are made from 100 percent sugar cane with no artificial flavouring. We could be among the very few coffee bar which uses Da Vinci Sauces and Syrups, which are made from pure sugar extracts,” she said.

Today, Coffee Academy, which main bar is in Balibago, is already a household name for Angelenos. In a very short span of time, the coffee bar grew in leaps and soon will have another branch in Sindalan, City of San Fernando. Arrozal said the new bar will open by June.

Coffee Academy’s bestseller

Blackforest Frappe. Coffee Academy’s bestseller

Coffee Academy’s success can be attributed to its finest bestsellers made from the coffee bar’s patented house blend. Café Mocha is an espresso-based chocolate served hot for espresso lovers while the Black Forest is an ice-blended espresso-based frappe. And since Coffee Academy is for the whole family, it serves a non-coffee ice blend Cookies and Cream for children with sweet tooth.

The coffee bar had already expanded its menu. They are now serving sisig, crispy pata, pancit guisado, pansit bihon and other meals the family can enjoy. “Before, customers will dine first somewhere else before going to Coffee Academy for a coffee siesta. But now, they can dine and enjoy the coffee in same place,” Arrozal said.

Also, Coffee Academy’s clientele grew fast because of its 24/7 service. No other coffee bar and resto in the city is open 24 hours a day. Most of the people staying inside Clark Freeport Zone stay at the Coffee Academy, especially during wee hours of the night when all the entertainment establishments in Clark we closed.

“This is our greatest edge. We are 24/7 and we have free WIFI access. Most of our customers are professionals, businessmen and even students. They love the place because they know they can rely on us when they need a place to work or to stay during the wee hours of the day,” she said.

Coffee Academy has another branch at the lobby of Angeles University Foundation Medical Center in Angeles City. You can relax and enjoy the coffee with piano accompaniment during Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. AUF cultural director and art master Sir Boron plays the piano for the hospital residents and Coffee Academy family on the said days.

So next time you think of coffee, cookies, meals and WIFI, try Coffee Academy. The main bar is located in Balibago, Angeles City in front of Marlim Mansions.

In her speech before the spectators, Vega-Cabigting said that the fight for freedom does not end with the yearly commemoration of the Independence Day. She said that fighting for freedom is still relevant in today’s time as the Filipino society is still plagued by social oppression of various sorts.

Ms. Ana Datu, for her part, urged tenants of the mall to contribute in their little way in promoting Filipino values in their workplace as well as in their homes.

After the program, Vice Mayor Vega and Ms. Ana T. Datu led the opening of the 6 feet by 12 feet Giant Pulburon Exhibit assisted by Mr. Rene Del Rosario at the The Event Center. The delicacy was made by the famous Sasmuan Delicacies, a local brand name famous for popularizing local native delicacies in Pampanga.  (Story by SM City Clark)

A new gathering place that will redefine shopping, dining and entertainment experience in Central Luzon is now in Angeles City. Ayala Land’s first venture in the region, MarQuee Mall brings a special fusion of the traditional and the novel, a feature distinctively identified with the Ayala Malls.

A project of North Beacon Commercial Corporation, a 100 % wholly owned subsidiary of Ayala Land, Inc., MarQuee Mall houses the Metro Department Store and Supermarket, four (4) digital cinemas, an activity center, children’s playground, civic park and transport terminal.

Metro Department Store and Supermarket is MarQuee mall’s anchor merchant. Metro started in Cebu in 1982. It offers quality and a variety of merchandise that are highly competitive and reasonable. Metro can also be found in Bonifacio, Global City (Metro Market!Market!), Cebu City, Legaspi, Mandaue, Lucena and at the Metro Ayala in Ayala Center Cebu.

The first of its kind in Central Luzon, MarQuee Mall offers more than 300 popular and specialty stores of local and affordable international brands, fast food outlets, casual-dining restaurants, grills, four (4) digital cinemas, cafés and an amusement center with a mixture of the new trends and concepts such as flagship stores, food showcase from known restaurateurs and highly-pronounced zones for kids, teens, sports, IT, home and wellness.

MarQuee Mall will showcase choice and select shopping by bringing in the best local and foreign brands in shopping and dining to Pampanga interspersed with Central Luzon’s arts, crafts and cuisine. Popular local brands include Bench, Kamiseta, Bayo, Kashieca, Human, Penshoppe, Folded & Hung. Marks & Spencer, Lacoste Clothing and Footwear, Aerosoles, Nine West, Beauty Bar, Charles & Keith represent the international brands. The mall’s junior anchor stores include True Value, Abenson, Toys R’ Us, Saizen, Wilcon Home Essentials . Top notch dining features TGI Fridays, Italianni’s, Red Kimono, Xtremely Expresso, Sumo Sam. Popular Kapampangan specialties like Nathaniel’s, Susie’s Cuisine, Kabigting’s Halo Halo, Aling Lucing and Ikabud add to the unique mix of the mall.

Come September 23, MarQuee Mall will offer a venue for local festivities and occasions. Discerning shoppers will enjoy unique and compelling events featuring both local culture and Ayala Malls signature events.

Marquee’s activity center is a dynamic events venue that will serve as an entertainment
hub where visitors can hang around and enjoy different kinds of activities such as live
performances, shows, exhibits and the like. Also featured in the activity area is a unique water feature and a children’s playground.

And since landscaping is also another signature of the Ayala Malls, MarQuee has a landscaped drop-off and entry area and a half-hectare garden, facing the Angeles City Hall.

The garden serves as the civic park, a street level park that will provide a venue for get-togethers, meetings and social activities. It has a festive indoor-outdoor feel for unique and compelling events that promote bonding with families and friends. The civic park also has an interactive fountain which features a playful choreography of lights and a water display. This alfresco experience is further heightened by beautiful art installations and lush landscaping.

With a total land area of 9.3 hectares, MarQuee Mall also provides several amenities including a parking area for more than 1,000 vehicles, a public transport terminal dedicated for buses, jeepneys, AUVs and tricycles, a customer lounge, and concierge services.

Inspired by the Kapampangans’ rich and lively culture that is reflected in their propensity to always gather, dine and celebrate life’s occasions, MarQuee Mall was developed to serve as a regional shopping center that brings together a rich and unique experience reminiscent of a lively town plaza, infused with an urban vibe. MarQuee Mall feels familiar yet fresh. It is the favorite gathering place in Central Luzon.

Marquee Mall is the retail component of Marquee, a 53-hectare integrated community in Central Luzon skillfully developed by Ayala Land that also includes MarQuee Place, a residential development located just a few meters away.

“Along with Marquee Place (a residential development by Alveo Land), the mall is the definitive lifestyle destination in Central Luzon. It will showcase Manila’s premier dining, entertainment and shopping experience as well as unique homegrown concepts that will highlight the dynamic lifestyle and rich culture of Kapampangans. The entire development raises the bar of the residential and commercial experience in Central Luzon. This would spur greater economic activity by attracting both local and foreign investors to Pampanga and by generating more employees to contribute to the local economy,” Mark Sablan, MarQuee Mall’s General Manager said.

Only an hour away from Manila and strategically located a few minute drive away from the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), MarQuee Mall sits right at Angeles Exit of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).
