Healthy Breakfast

All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast. ~John Gunther

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.”

Back in my high school days, I used to hear my mom say this over and over each morning when I do not want to get late in school that I wanted to skip eating my breakfast. I always have the question in my mind what my mom meant when she says that breakfast it the most important meal. But over the years, I never really tried searching for the answers not until now.

Food is the fuel and energy that our bodies need and without it we spend the day fighting off a headache and a bad mood. Breakfast is just the thing that breaks the fast that your body is in from the long night before a new day. Studies show that children who eat breakfast perform better in school. This works with adults too. If you want to enjoy your day with a good mood, if you want to stay focused and have a better concentration, eat your breakfast first thing in the morning.

The ones who usually skip meals are the weight watchers, and one of the common reasons why they skip breakfast is to lose weight. Teens are becoming body conscious; they tend to skip eating meals, thinking that this will help them to slim down. This is a common misconception of weight watchers with superficial knowledge about losing weight. You eat more, you lose more. This does not sound like it but it actually works better than not eating anything at all. Your body expects to be refueled at a certain time of the day. When you do not eat, you starve yourself and intensify the hunger that makes it even harder for you to resist consuming big servings of food during the next meals. Also, when you do not eat breakfast, studies show that your metabolism gets slower to digest and is having a hard time breaking down the consumed food that results to a high risk of obesity.

Eating breakfast may actually be good for losing weight. Those who eat their breakfast are more likely to maintain a healthy weight than those who do not eat breakfast. Nutrition experts believe eating breakfast keeps your metabolism digesting while starving yourself makes it even harder to digest food and it takes one to two days before it gets to digest normally again. But the consumption of breakfast increases the metabolic rate and kick starts and gears up your body. Eat right every day, save yourself from a bad condition, and worry not about a little calorie.
