The ultimate shopping experience is now in Pampanga!

The first Ayala Mall in Central Luzon opens on September 23, 2009. MarQuee Mall offers a totally different shopping experience with more than 300 stores that range from the popular to the most unique but affordable international brands, according to Ms Norie Ubalde-Raniel, Deputy General Manager of MarQuee Mall.

Discerning Kapampangan shoppers need not have to travel all the way to Manila to visit their favorite international brand shops like Marks & Spencer, Lacoste, Aerosoles, Nine West, Beauty Bar, Charles and Keith and Swatch.

Marks & Spencer is one of United Kingdom’s leading retailers that sell stylish, high quality, great value clothing and home products. It is a top choice among fashionable shoppers. Aerosoles is another favorite among women that offers high quality, comfortable and fashion-right shoes and boots at affordable prices. Just like the world renowned Charles & Keith, which sells the finest ladies’ footwear and accessories.

Meanwhile, Beauty Bar showcases innovative and non-traditional international brands of cosmetics, skin care and beauty products that are not available anywhere else in the Philippines. Beauty Bar is the first and only specialty personal care concept of its kind, where niche brands and products are presented as new alternatives to traditional cosmetics and body care ideas– from simple lip glosses to more intricate potions for beauty and relaxation.

At MarQuee Mall, everyone will surely find a match. Popular local brands that are even more affordable are also lined-up. Bench, Kamiseta, Bayo, Kashieca, Human, Penshoppe, Folded & Hung are just few of the most-frequented shops that offers comfy, quality and chic wear.

Folded & Hung, is case you missed it, is an original line of clothing by a proud Kapampangan doctor Ronald Pineda. He was named as a Most Outstanding Kapampangan in 2005.

And there are stores that give great value for the shoppers’ money. True Value, from Robinson’s group of companies, is known for its broad and diversified variety of merchandise in the home improvement line, lawn and garden tools, automotive supplies, electrical materials, hand & power tools, building materials, decorating accessories, lawn & garden furniture & accessories, bathroom fixtures, paint & sundries, and odorless and lead free True Value paints.

There is also Saizen, another store from the Robinson’s Group. An authentic hyakuen that sells the same wares available in the Harajuku stores in Japan. Saizen sticks to the Japanese principle of offering all merchandise at just one price. Everything in the store no matter how miniscule or how large is just PhP85. Other shops include Abenson, Toys R’ Us, and Wilcon Home Essentials.

And for the trendy, happy and high-spirited circle of friends and families, MarQuee Mall has the great western and oriental restaurants like T.G.I. Fridays, Itallianni’s, Red Kimono, Xtremely Expresso and Sumo Sam.

Aside from the famous restaurants that offer international cuisine, MarQuee Mall also houses the best homegrown stores and restaurateurs.

Ikabud, one of the leading restaurants in Angeles City introduces new and exciting food items and other sumptuous cuisines coupled with an environment promoting a unique ambiance for romance, festivity, and happiness.

Aling Lucing, the birthplace of Pampanga sisig. Kabigting’s is the new choice for halo-halo in Pampanga! It is run by a husband-and-wife team and started as a cafeteria near the Arayat Public Market. What makes this one great is its utter simplicity. It only has milk, corn, beans and homemade pastilles de leche. These basic ingredients though make up a milky and creamy delight.

Susie’s has gone from being a simple eatery to being a staple pit stop of foodies from all over Luzon. Customers from Manila come in droves for their kakanins, specifically Pampanga’s prized delicacy – tibok-tibok or maja blanca. Other bestselling treats include mochi – a finger shaped rice cake with sweet monggo bean filling, cassava cake and pansit palabok.

Nathaniel’s Bakeshop is another divine Pampango kakanin store. It offers cassava cake, siomai puto and buko pandan drink and dessert. The buko pandan dessert is unlike any other, as its cream is immaculate white with the addition of gatas damulag (carabao milk).

And finally, the Metro Department Store and Supermarket is at the heart of MarQuee Mall. An original company from Cebu, Metro offers quality and a variety of merchandise that are highly competitive and reasonable.

Set to be the favorite gathering place in Central Luzon, MarQuee Mall boasts of a distinct architecture, people-oriented spaces highlighted by beautifully sculptured landscapes that are signatures of Ayala Malls.

Dave Blas, senior architect of the Ayala Land’s Innovation and Design Group, said MarQuee Mall’s design was specially conceptualized to provide something contemporary and attuned to the culture of the people of Pampanga and Central Luzon as well.

Blas said the mall was planned to encourage convergence, providing various opportunities for family and friends to gather, to shop, dine, relax, and be entertained all together. This explains the generous open spaces, the centrally located Activity Center, and the outdoor-facing restaurants that will be opened beyond the usual mall hours.

“The thinking behind it was to come up with something contemporary and familiar but with touches of the new. The look and feel is engaging and upscale but not intimidating,” Blas said.

Blas added that a fair amount of effort was put into making the indoor and outdoor spaces flow into each other.

“I would like to think this blending of indoor and outdoor is a signature of Ayala Malls. Some examples of how this was done for Marquee Mall: paving patterns blending into the interior tile patterns from the exterior arcade; row of restaurants looking out into the garden; doorways pushed inward to allow a longer outdoor feel as you enter the building,” he explained.

Blas said MarQuee Mall also has a landscaped drop-off and entry area from Francisco G. Nepo Ave. and a half-hectare garden at the other side facing Angeles City Hall and the future residential development.

“This large garden is envisioned as a civic plaza, with areas for activities, gathering and relaxing, as well as quieter spaces. A sculptural installation and a water feature highlight this landscaped space,” he said.

The wave art installation is one of the main features of the civic plaza. But Blas said it is not intended to be appreciated as a set piece viewed from a distance.

“Rather, the artist expects people to become part of the artwork, where they can sit, play, and generally engage themselves with the installation. Inspiration is drawn from the rice fields of the central plains of Luzon, as well as an affinity with water and its refreshing and relaxing effect,” Blas said.

Blas added that the fountain in landscaped garden is made of a simple series of jets that were programmed to create different forms and movement patterns.

A first of its kind in Central Luzon, MarQuee Mall offers a new experience to mall-goers with its elegantly sculptured landscapes and eco-friendly spaces in tune with contemporary architecture concepts.

According to Mark Sablan, MarQuee Mall’s general manager, “The mall architecture artfully blends contemporary design with its proud local vibe, its indoor-outdoor environment intertwining gracefully into its own upscale residential village and upbeat commercial district.”

It offers more than 300 popular and specialty stores of local and affordable international brands, fast food outlets, casual-dining restaurants, grills, cafés and an amusement center with a mixture of the new trends and concepts such as flagship stores, food showcase from known restaurateurs and highly-pronounced zones for kids, teens, sports, IT, home and wellness. It houses Metro Department Store and Supermarket as its anchor merchant, four (4) digital cinemas, an activity center, children’s playground, civic park and transport terminal.

Marquee Mall is the retail component of Marquee, a 53-hectare integrated community in Central Luzon skillfully developed by Ayala Land that also includes MarQuee Place, a residential development located a few meters away from the mall.

Only an hour away from Manila and strategically located a few minute drive away from the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), MarQuee Mall sits right at Angeles Exit of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).
