Phil Solon, Red Pillars Donate 43 Sacks of Rice to Pampanga Evacuation Centers

Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has donated 28 sacks of rice to evacuation centers in Angeles and Mabalacat cities as heavy rains continued to displace families in several barangays.

Of the total donation, 20 sacks will be distributed to Barangays Sapangbato, Margot, Amsic, Balibago, Pandan, Sto. Domingo and San Nicolas in Angeles City. The remaining eight sacks will go to Barangays Mabiga and Dau in Mabalacat City.

Lazatin said the assistance was part of efforts to support families affected by flooding and other impacts of the southwest monsoon.

“Sa ganitong panahon ng kalamidad, importante ang tulungan ng bawat isa,” Lazatin said.

The Red Pillars Foundation, led by Lazatin’s chief adviser and Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary IC Calaguas and Chief Political Affairs Officer Reina Manuel, separately donated 15 sacks of rice to the affected barangays.

Barangay Pandan Captain Cors Alejandrino expressed appreciation for the assistance, saying the rice would help residents who had been moved to evacuation centers.

“Malaking tulong ito sa aming mga residente na inilikas sa evacuation centers,” Alejandrino said.

The Margot Barangay Council, headed by Barangay Captain Dominador Lising, also thanked Lazatin for the donation through a social media post.

The council said the assistance provided relief and encouragement to families affected by the southwest monsoon, adding that the donations reflected the spirit of cooperation and solidarity during times of crisis.

Since Aug. 28, Lazatin and his staff have been visiting communities in Pampanga’s First District affected by the continuing rains. Their activities include checking evacuation centers and delivering food and relief packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

During visits to Barangays Sto. Domingo and Anunas on Aug. 28, residents also greeted Lazatin with a birthday song as he marked his 57th birthday.

The rice donations form part of continuing relief efforts for families displaced by flooding in Angeles and Mabalacat amid the prevailing southwest monsoon.
